Declutter Your Mind: Think Better, Live Better

Learning to declutter your mind is essential when life feels overwhelming. At times, we find it challenging to navigate our thoughts and make sense of the world around us.
This occurs when your mind is overwhelmed, and filled with thoughts, and you feel knackered.

Amidst a barrage of distractions – emails, work pressure, social media activity, tracking bills, working overtime –  your focus is scattered and it’s difficult to concentrate on any one thing. There’s a feeling of lacking control and being unable to make a difference!

Thus commences the clutter of disorganised thoughts and emotions that occupy every nook of your mind, hindering your ability to think and act effectively!

What exactly is mental clutter, anyway?

Having a multitude of disorganised thoughts, information, and emotions, overanalyzing or attempting to juggle multiple tasks at once can lead to mental clutter, making it difficult to think clearly.

A mind that is constantly perplexed can be a result of excessive mental activity. It impedes your ability to concentrate on specific tasks and often makes you feel confused.

When and how did I fill my mind with unnecessary thoughts? You did it while –

  • Browsing through various social media platforms and streaming services without a specific purpose.
  • Pushing yourself tirelessly without taking into account your physical and mental well-being.
  • Feeling overwhelmed, having irregular eating habits, experiencing sleep deprivation.
  • Feeling apprehensive about the future or concerned about what lies ahead in life! It seems like your mind is always in overdrive!

The Solution is simple! Declutter your mind just the way you declutter your wardrobe work table, or your house! We often donate or throw away things that are of no use to us. Decluttering of mind works equally on similar lines. A few simple steps can help you achieve this –

  1. Stop procrastination.
  2. Create a routine for yourself. This should include a bedtime routine.
  3. Try to meditate for a few minutes regularly. This will improve your focus and make you feel peaceful.
  4. Maintain a journal of your daily emotions, feelings and activities. This will help you reflect on your daily emotional quotient.
  5. Try digital detox – remove unnecessary apps from your mobile. Limit your daily screen time.

By adopting a mindful approach to organising our thoughts, we create a path towards clear thinking, a sense of direction, innovative thinking, and making decisions with confidence.

Remember – Keep the best, and throw away the rest!
